SRINAGAR: Carrying out a suicide attack, fidayeen (suicide attackers) on Friday stormed the Income Tax Office in the heart of Srinagar, in the troubled state of Jammu & Kashmir in India, triggering a gunbattle and setting it on fire with almost 70 employees trapped inside, police said on Friday. In the gunbattle two jawans and one Income Tax employee were killed.

Hurling grenades and firing indiscriminatly, the militants whose number was not known, stormed the building in Barbarshah locality around 3.45 pm killing a security jawan on the spot, the sources said. CRPF personnel were guarding the Income Tax building which is located adjacent to Ranbir Bhavan housing the troops of Border Security Force.

No militant outfit has so far claimed responsibility for the attack.
